Overview
Why buyers choose it
-
Fit now, read remotely later
The sensor is already there, so the second half of the scheme does not mean lifting meters out of walls and slabs.
-
Electronics apart from the chamber
The sensing side can be serviced without opening the measuring element.
-
Inductive, not magnetic
A magnet held against the body does not generate counts.
-
0.05 litre resolution
Fine enough that consecutive readings can be compared to find a slow loss.
In detail
Mechanically this is the R200 horizontal volumetric meter — DN15 and DN20, 0.05 litre resolution, no straight pipe required. It is supplied with the inductive sensor already fitted, so the register can be read remotely whenever the scheme is ready for it.
The reason to buy metering that way is sequencing. A society or a utility rarely funds meters and a reading system in the same year, and a meter installed without provision has to come back out when the second half arrives. Behind a wall or under a slab that is the expensive part of the job, and it is the part that gets deferred until the scheme quietly stops.
The pickup is inductive and the electronics sit apart from the measuring chamber, so the sensing side can be serviced without opening the meter and a magnet held against the body does not add counts.

Parts
Parts of a volumetric meter
How a meter of this type is built, and what this model is made of.
-
Lid
Caps the register and keeps water and debris off the dial.
-
Register
Totalises and displays the water passed.
Register type Rotary piston, dry dial, pulse-ready
-
Register seal
Seals the register housing against water ingress.
-
Chamber cover
Bolted cover sealing the piston chamber.
-
Rotary piston
Nutating piston that displaces a fixed volume each rotation and drives the register.
-
Strainer
Screens out grit and debris before the measuring element.
-
Body
Houses the measuring element and carries the flow.
-
Tailpieces / connections
Threaded couplings that join the meter to the pipework.
