Overview
Why buyers choose it
-
Ten years on a battery
Sited for radio coverage rather than for the nearest socket, which is usually a roof or a chamber.
-
Self-forming network
Meters join as they are installed, so a scheme extends a street at a time without a commissioning survey.
-
Batch upload, or on demand
Reads to its own schedule and still answers a direct request from the control room.
-
One connection per district
The backhaul is the gateway’s, not each meter’s, so the running cost does not scale with the meter count.
In detail
A metering scheme is only as good as the readings that reach it, and the gateway is the part nobody thinks about until they do. This one collects from LoRaWAN meters in the field and forwards in batches over 4G or GPRS, so a district needs one connection to the network rather than one per meter.
It runs on its own battery, rated at up to ten years, which is what makes siting it a question of radio coverage rather than of where the nearest power is. That matters more than it sounds: the best position for a gateway is usually a rooftop, a pole or a chamber lid, and none of those come with a socket.
The network is self-forming. Meters join it as they are installed rather than being commissioned one by one against a plan, so a scheme can be extended a street at a time without a survey each time.
It reads on its own schedule and also answers on demand, so the control room can ask a specific meter for a specific reading — which is the difference between finding a leak on the next scheduled upload and finding it now.
