In detail
This is the M-Bus direct reading meter with a shut-off valve in the same body, opened and closed from the control centre.
The feature worth understanding is the valve preheat. A motorised valve that sits open for eight months will often refuse to close when it is finally asked — scale, debris and a stiff seat between them defeat a small actuator, and the failure is discovered at exactly the moment the valve was needed. This one runs a preheating action on a schedule, so the mechanism is exercised long before anybody depends on it.
That turns remote isolation from a feature that works at commissioning into one that works in year three. On a prepaid or a debt-management scheme, a valve that cannot be trusted to close is not a valve at all.
The metering is the direct reading register described across this range: the wheels are read optically and the reading itself is transmitted, so there is no pulse count to drift. The meter takes its power from the bus, is sealed to IP68, and reports valve faults and sensor faults without being polled.
