Overview

Why buyers choose it

  • Transmitter apart from the tube

3 m of cable as standard, so the display goes where it can be read.

  • DN15 to DN3000

One principle from a small process line to the largest mains.

  • Lined for the liquid

Rubber, PTFE or ceramic lining; SS316, platinum, titanium or tantalum electrodes.

  • Nothing in the flow

No moving part and no restriction in the bore; the liquid has to conduct.

In detail

This is an electromagnetic flow meter in two parts. The lined measuring tube goes in the pipe; the transmitter, with its display and keys, mounts on its own bracket and is joined to the tube by a signal cable, 3 m long as standard. The separation is the point of it: the tube goes where the pipe is, in a pit, overhead or on a line that vibrates, and the display goes where somebody can stand and read it.

The principle is the one every electromagnetic meter uses. Coils put a magnetic field across the tube, the moving liquid induces a voltage in proportion to its velocity, and two electrodes pick that voltage up. Nothing projects into the flow, so there is no moving part and no restriction, and the one condition is that the liquid conducts.

Sizes run from DN15 to DN3000. The lining is rubber, PTFE or ceramic, chosen for the liquid, and the electrodes are SS316 as standard, with SS316L, platinum, titanium or tantalum where the liquid calls for them.

The transmitter has a graphical display and runs on 230 V AC or 24 V DC, in a die-cast aluminium housing.

  1. Transmitter with display

Converts the electrode signal into a flow reading and shows it.

    Display Graphical display

  2. Cable entry

Where the signal and power cables enter the transmitter housing.

  3. Field coil

Generates the magnetic field the flow induces a voltage across.

  4. Electrodes

Sense the voltage induced by the flowing liquid.

Electrode material SS316 standard; SS316L, platinum, titanium or tantalum

  5. Insulating liner

Isolates the measuring signal from the metal tube wall.

Lining material Rubber, PTFE or ceramic

  6. Measuring tube

Carries the flow through the magnetic field.

  7. Earthing rings

Reference the liquid to the pipework's earth potential.

  8. Flanges

Bolt the meter to the pipeline.
