Overview
Why buyers choose it
-
Sized for the trunk main
DN50 to DN300 with permanent flow to 600 m³/h, which is where a works intake or a district's incoming main sits.
-
Removable measuring element
Re-verification takes the element, not the body, so the main stays where it was laid.
-
Built for a chamber
The cast iron body takes the weight of a flanged connection and the knocks of a buried installation.
-
Register reads from any angle
The dial rotates a full 360°, so the meter is set to suit the pipe rather than the hatch.
In detail
The cast iron Woltman covers the sizes above where a brass body stops being practical — DN50 through DN300, with permanent flow up to 600 m³/h. It is the meter for a trunk main or a works intake, where the meter sits in a chamber and is expected to stay there for a decade.
A cast iron body is chosen for the reason it has always been chosen on buried work: it takes the mechanical abuse of a chamber, the weight of the flanged connection and the occasional water hammer without deforming. The measuring element lifts out separately, so the periodic re-verification a utility owes its regulator does not mean cutting the body out of the main.
This meter is declared to the 1993 edition of ISO 4064, in accuracy class B rather than the class 1 and 2 of the current edition. That matters when a tender specifies the current standard: the two classifications are not interchangeable and the declared figures should be read as the edition states them.
