Overview
Why buyers choose it
-
Fewest parts
Direct drive with no magnetic coupling, so there is less in it to go wrong and less to pay for.
-
Honest about the trade
A wet dial costs less and clouds sooner; on clean water read often, that is the right economics.
-
Standard connections
It fits the same tails as the dry dial meters, so a scheme can mix them without mixing fittings.
-
Class B declared
The accuracy is stated to the edition it was tested against rather than implied.
In detail
A wet dial sits in the water and is driven directly by the impeller spindle. There is no magnetic coupling and no sealed chamber, which makes it the least expensive meter in the range and the one with fewest parts to fail.
The trade is legibility over time. A wet register is in contact with whatever the supply carries, so on hard or turbid water the wheels silt and the glass clouds, and the meter that reads perfectly at commissioning can be difficult to read in its fifth year. Where the water is clean and the meter is read often, that is a fair trade; where it is not, the dry dial single-jet is the meter that stays readable.
It covers DN15 to DN25 at nominal flows of 1.5 to 3.5 m³/h, declared to ISO 4064:1993 in accuracy class B.

Parts
Parts of a single-jet meter
How a meter of this type is built, and what this model is made of.
-
Lid
Caps the register and keeps water and debris off the dial.
-
Register
Totalises and displays the water passed.
Register type Single jet, wet dial
-
Register seal
Seals the register housing against water ingress.
-
Measuring chamber
Directs the single tangential jet onto the impeller.
-
Impeller
Turns with the jet of water and drives the register.
-
Strainer
Screens out grit and debris before the measuring element.
-
Body
Houses the measuring element and carries the flow.
Body material Brass, painted or nickel coated
-
Tailpieces / connections
Threaded couplings that join the meter to the pipework.
