Overview

Why buyers choose it

  • A register built for heat

Copper and glass rather than plastic, so it stays clear at 90 °C instead of crazing at 50 °C.

  • Resolves to 0.05 litres

Fine enough to compare two readings and see a slow loss, not just a month's consumption.

  • No straight pipe needed

U0 D0, so it fits where the pipework already is rather than needing a run built for it.

  • Antimagnetic drive

A magnet held to the body does not slow or stop the register.

In detail

Plastic register covers craze and yellow above about 50 °C, which is why hot-water meters that were specified as cold-water meters end up unreadable. This one uses a copper housing and a glass window, so the register survives the duty it is sold for: cold water from 0 °C, hot water to 90 °C.

It is a single-jet meter — water enters the chamber through one tangential port — which makes it simpler and shorter than a multi-jet of the same bore, and easier to fit where the pipework was not designed around a meter. It reads to a resolution of 0.05 litres over a 99 999 m³ dial, and needs no straight pipe upstream or down.

The dial is vacuum sealed and rotates through 360°, the drive is magnetic and antimagnetic, and the meter holds class 2 accuracy at an R160 turndown across DN15 to DN40. It is declared for horizontal installation.

Illustrative: how a meter of this type is built. This model's own materials and figures are in the table and its specifications.
  1. Lid

Caps the register and keeps water and debris off the dial.

  2. Register

Totalises and displays the water passed.

Register type Single jet, dry dial, copper and glass, vacuum sealed

  3. Register seal

Seals the register housing against water ingress.

  4. Measuring chamber

Directs the single tangential jet onto the impeller.

  5. Impeller

Turns with the jet of water and drives the register.

  6. Strainer

Screens out grit and debris before the measuring element.

  7. Body

Houses the measuring element and carries the flow.

  8. Tailpieces / connections

Threaded couplings that join the meter to the pipework.
