Overview

Why buyers choose it

  • Resolves to 0.05 litres

Twenty times finer than a standard volumetric register, which is what makes two consecutive night readings comparable.

  • R200 turndown

The slowest registering flow sits lower again, so less passes unmeasured before the leak is found.

  • Rated to 50 °C

T50 rather than T30, so it can sit on a warm line without being outside its declaration.

  • No straight pipe needed

U0 D0 flow profile sensitivity, so it goes where there is room rather than where there is a run.

In detail

This is the higher-resolution volumetric meter in the range: DN15 and DN20, an R200 turndown, and a register that resolves to 0.05 litres against the 1 litre of the standard volumetric. The dial runs to 99 999 m³.

Resolution and turndown do different jobs, and this meter is specified when both are wanted. The turndown decides the slowest flow that registers at all; the resolution decides how small a change is visible between two readings. Sub-metering that is used to apportion a bill, or a leak investigation that compares consecutive nights, needs the second as much as the first.

It is rated T50, so it takes water to 50 °C rather than the 30 °C of a plain cold meter, and its maximum admissible pressure is 10 bar. Like the rest of the volumetric family it needs no straight pipe either side.

Illustrative: how a meter of this type is built. This model's own materials and figures are in the table and its specifications.
  1. Lid

Caps the register and keeps water and debris off the dial.

  2. Register

Totalises and displays the water passed.

Register type Rotary piston, dry dial

  3. Register seal

Seals the register housing against water ingress.

  4. Chamber cover

Bolted cover sealing the piston chamber.

  5. Rotary piston

Nutating piston that displaces a fixed volume each rotation and drives the register.

  6. Strainer

Screens out grit and debris before the measuring element.

  7. Body

Houses the measuring element and carries the flow.

  8. Tailpieces / connections

Threaded couplings that join the meter to the pipework.
