Overview

Why buyers choose it

  • Isolate without a visit

A vacant property or a burst on the consumer's side is closed from the control room in seconds.

  • The valve reports back

Position is telemetered, so the record shows what the valve did rather than what it was told to do.

  • The same metering, unchanged

The same ultrasonic measurement as the meter without a valve, so the two are interchangeable on a scheme.

  • One body, one connection

Meter and valve share a body, so there is no second joint to leak and no extra length to find.

In detail

This is the stainless steel ultrasonic meter with a shut-off valve built into the same body, operated from the control room rather than at the connection.

A remote valve changes what a metering scheme can do. Supply to a vacant property can be cut without a visit and restored the moment it is let. A burst on a consumer's side can be isolated in seconds rather than in however long it takes to find the stop tap under a parked car. And where supply is prepaid, the valve is what makes the arrangement enforceable without anybody knocking on a door.

The metering is unchanged from the meter without a valve: no moving parts in the bore, registration from 12 litres an hour, 24 months of readings held on board. What is added is a valve that reports its own position, so the control room knows whether the supply is actually off rather than assuming it from the command it sent.

  3. Battery

Powers the electronics for its service life without mains power.

  4. Upstream transducer

Sends the ultrasonic pulse along the measuring path.

  5. Reflector

Folds the ultrasonic path across the bore.

  6. Downstream transducer

Receives the ultrasonic pulse and completes the measuring path.

  7. Body / measuring tube

Carries the flow and holds the transducers in fixed alignment.

    Body material Stainless steel

  8. Connections

Joins the meter to the pipework.
