Overview

Why buyers choose it

  • R250 turndown

At DN100 the measuring range runs from 0.64 to 200 m³/h, so night flow is inside it.

  • No moving parts

Transit-time measurement leaves nothing in the bore to wear, stall or jam.

  • 18 months on board

Stored data and power-fail protection keep the record intact through a lost supply.

  • M-Bus, pulse and 4–20 mA

Reads into an M-Bus network, a pulse counter or a PLC; RS485 to order.

In detail

A bulk meter on a supply main or a building inlet spends much of the night at a small fraction of its rated flow, and a mechanical meter at that end of its range under-reads or stops. This meter measures ultrasonically: it times pulses sent with and against the flow and calculates the velocity from the difference, so there is no rotor to wear, stall or be jammed by debris.

It is built as a flanged spool from DN40 to DN150 with a turndown of R250. At DN100 that means the meter measures within its limits of error from 0.64 m³/h up to an overload flow of 200 m³/h. The limit of error is ±2% between Q2 and Q4 and ±5% between Q1 and Q2. It is offered for maximum admissible pressures of 10 or 16 bar, falls in pressure loss class ΔP40, and can be installed horizontally or vertically.

M-Bus is the standard remote interface, with an infrared port for reading on site, a pulse output and a 4–20 mA output; RS485 can be supplied to order. The meter is powered from a lithium battery or from the M-Bus line. It stores 18 months of data, and if power is lost the accumulated volume and the time are saved, and metering resumes by itself when power returns.

The electronics are sealed to IP68 and rated for ambient temperatures from −25 to +55 °C at up to 90% relative humidity, with a service life of at least six years. It is installed with the arrow on the body pointing with the flow, a control valve and strainer upstream, eight pipe diameters of straight run before the meter and six after.

  1. Cover / enclosure

Weatherproof shell enclosing the electronics and battery.

    IP rating IP68

  2. Electronics / display unit

Processes the transit-time signal and shows the reading.

Register type Ultrasonic, transit-time, electronic display

  3. Battery

Powers the electronics for its service life without mains power.

Battery type Lithium; can also be powered from the M-Bus line

  4. Upstream transducer

Sends the ultrasonic pulse along the measuring path.

  5. Reflector

Folds the ultrasonic path across the bore.

  6. Downstream transducer

Receives the ultrasonic pulse and completes the measuring path.

  7. Body / measuring tube

Carries the flow and holds the transducers in fixed alignment.

  8. Connections

Joins the meter to the pipework.
