Overview
Why buyers choose it
-
Up to 350 °C
Rated from −40 to 350 °C, which is what makes superheated steam measurable at all.
-
No moving part
The shedder does not rotate, so there is no bearing to fail in steam.
-
Compensated on board
Pressure and temperature corrected in the meter — the difference between a flow figure and a billable one.
-
Measures what a mag meter cannot
Steam, compressed air, oxygen, nitrogen and natural gas do not conduct. This does not care.
In detail
Steam is the reason this meter exists. A bluff body in the bore sheds vortices at a rate proportional to velocity, and counting them works in a medium that would destroy an impeller and that an electromagnetic meter cannot see at all, because steam does not conduct.
It is rated from −40 to 350 °C, which is what puts superheated steam within reach. There is one moving part fewer than a turbine meter: none. The shedder does not rotate, so there is no bearing to fail in superheated steam.
Compensation is the specification worth checking. A gas or a vapour changes density with pressure and temperature, so a velocity reading alone is not a mass or a standard volume. This one takes pressure and temperature inputs and does the correction on board, which is the difference between a flow figure and a billable one.
DN25 to DN300, sixty bar, flanged or wafer, with a flameproof enclosure for classified areas and a lithium battery option where running power to the line is the hard part.
